“UN reports Haitians hospitals charge earthquake victims”

United Nations reports some Haitian public and private hospitals charge patients. Shipments of medicines and other relief goods has been stopped due to public maltreatment.

It was Jan. 12 year 2010 when a catastrophic earthquake struck Haiti, all medical authorities helped to accompany all the victims in free of charge.

World health organizations sent medical teams to help, and tons of dollar medical donations has been sent for relief operations.

UN officials stressed The Associated Press that about hospitals had begun charging its patients for medicines.

Christophe Rerat of the Pan American Health Organization, the UN health agency in the region said, “The money is huge. ” And added, “ $1 million worth of drugs have been sent from UN warehouses alone to Haitian hospitals in the past three weeks.”

He stressed out that these hospitals are not required to ask any payments from the victims because Haitian Health Ministry employees are getting paid with donated money.

Antagonist to UN’s decision spoke that the UN officials must continue supplying medicines and other relief materials especially to non-governmental groups working at hospitals.

Dr. Jean Hugues Henry, member of the special Haitian government commission made a ‘post-quake medical crisis’ and said, “I have no knowledge of any hospitals charging for services or medicine.”

Tomorrow, we will clarify that the government never gave anyone permission to charge for medicine and services,” he added.

About 90 hospitals including public and private hospitals and field hospitals are now to
set up another story behind grounding after shocks.
