Pakistan faces two consecutive suicide attacks

Thursday 11th February, Pakistan faced two suicide blasts in Peshawar. Event took place in Bannu, northwest of Peshawar. These consecutive blasts claimed 14 lives and more than 30 people were wounded. The first bomber blew himself outside the police training center and after eight minutes when police officials reached at the place then another bomber blew himself. There are nine policemen and five civilians in casualties. Bannu’s police chief Iqbal Marwat got serious wounds in the second attack. The wounded were taken to the city’s district headquarters hospital. Victims said that first bomber was on a vehicle and other wad on foot. Local administration chief, Abdul Jabbar Shah said “We found only the legs of the two suicide bombers who blew themselves eight minutes apart, ” .In the near past, Peshawar had been the hot target from Taliban. No group has claimed responsibility for the blasts yet. After attacks, curfew was imposed throughout the Peshawar city. People present at that spot said that when they were evacuating the people affected from bomb then another bomber blew himself up. There was a scene of panic in the whole city. In its initial reports police said that there are Taliban, behind this event and said that this is the response for the death of their group’s top commander, Hakimullah Mehsud. District of Bannu, lies next to North Waziristan which is very stronghold of Pakistani Taliban. And from a long period of time, North Waziristan has been under the target of drone attacks. So this event can be a response from them. Militants have struck security targets like police stations and convoys in retaliation for the Pakistani Army’s recent offensive against Taliban forces near the Afghan border. “There were two blasts. The first one was near the gate. The second was a suicide attack. We have confirmed reports it was a suicide attack,” said Sardar Abbas, the city’s senior administrator.
