Missing: U.S Funded project ‘worker’

MANILA, Philippines – Military official updates that a Local workers of a U.S.-funded road project had been kidnapped by unknown militants in the volatile southern Philippines.
They were kidnapped at the construction firm in Maimbung, Sulu province on Monday, said Rustico Guerero, an officer of the Ground Commander Joint Task Force.
Guerero said the militants torched a hauling truck before they left.
The road project is part of Washington’s humanitarian efforts in the region.
The officer tagged members of Abu Sayyaf behind the latest case of abduction. The 400-strong group, founded in the early 1990s by Islamic extremists, is notorious for kidnappings, bombings and even beheadings in the South over the past decade.
