Colombian Journalists Meet with Prime Minister Mike Eman
Prime Minister Mike Eman recently met with the Colombian press at the Dutch Embassy in Bogota during which a promotional video of Aruba was presented, followed by a press conference. One of the subjects discussed was the visa which is required for entry in Aruba and is now easier to obtain. In light of this, the Colombian tourism market has great potential, as demonstrated by the great number of petitions received.
Also discussed was the possibility of a joint venture with Pacific Rubiales and Ecopetrol, now in negotiations and hopefully to be agreed upon in November. The international golf tournament in which Pacific Rubiales sponsors the grand prize was also mentioned. One of the journalists remarked how well Aruba markets itself abroad. Prime Minister Mike Eman suggested that the two nations establish a better maritime connection not only to export Colombian coffee but all the other agricultural products that Aruba could import, including fruit.
The strong connections between the two nations were also noted, for example, by the number of AZV patients sent for medical treatment in Colombia and the number of Arubian students studying in Colombia. Prime Minister Eman was presented with a publication providing information about what more Colombia has to offer. It was a very amiable meeting that confirmed the great interest of Colombian journalists to learn more about Aruba. The opportunity for Colombian students of tourism to do their internships in Aruba was also suggested.
