Verizon is once again enhancing FiOS TV’s Spanish-language programming and offers by presenting the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s heavyweight pay-per-view event in Spanish. The event, “UFC: 116 LESNAR VS. CARWIN,” will be broadcast on Saturday (July 3) at 10 p.m. ET and includes graphics, commentators and more. The event will also be available on a FiOS TV English-language PPV channel.

“As Verizon continues to grow our customer base, we’re seeing more and more Hispanic families sign up for FiOS TV, and we want to make sure they receive the best that FiOS can offer, in Spanish,” said Shawn Strickland, vice president of consumer strategy for Verizon. “This UFC heavyweight championship event is just one example of our outstanding Spanish-language programming and packages. We look forward to offering our customers more events like this from the UFC.”

In what’s being described as the biggest heavyweight title fight ever, UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will be defending his title against interim title holder Shane Carwin. In addition, the night offers 10 other UFC fights including legendary “Axe Murderer” Wanderlei Silva taking on Yoshihiro Akiyama in the middleweight bout. When aired on FiOS TV’s Spanish-language PPV channel, the event will include all graphics in Spanish as well as a live Spanish broadcast with commentators Troy Santiago and Vic Davila calling the fight and presenting on camera.

FiOS TV subscribers will find the Spanish-language PPV event on channel 1002, and can purchase the event with a click of the remote control, online at FiOS TV Central, or by calling 888-553-1555 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 888-553-1555 end_of_the_skype_highlighting. Customers interested in purchasing the event in English can tune to channel 1000 for standard-definition and channel 1001 for high-definition.

In addition to UFC on PPV, FiOS TV subscribers have access to UFC on Video on Demand with a triple-tiered offering of three distinct services: UFC Free Zone, UFC Fight Zone and UFC Event Zone. The services offer everything from shows and event previews to a library of fights and events/specials. A Spanish-language rebroadcast of UFC 116 will be available on demand.

UFC On Demand is part of the more than 18,000 monthly titles included with FiOS TV Video on Demand.
