The Fundación IBERDROLA has invited applications for its 2010 “Solidarity Through Energy” programme which aims to provide social assistance to improve the well-being and quality of life of marginalised groups.

The programme is open to private non-profit groups which operate in Spain and which present projects centred on three areas. The first includes projects which cover basic needs, teach skills and promotes the social and vocational integration of disadvantaged groups.

As part of the IBERDROLA Group’s commitment to sustainable development, the second type of initiative will be related to environmental protection and the fight against climate change, and be aimed at initiatives involving disadvantaged, or at-risk groups.

Fundación IBERDROLA will especially target assistance and social/educational projects which are clearly in line with the foundation’s mandate.

The deadline for submitting projects is 8 April and the financial assistance allocated to each project must be under 50% of the total amount budgeted for each programme, up to a maximum of €20,000.

These awards form a part of Fundación IBERDROLA 2010-2014 Master Plan, whose main aims are to promote a sustainable energy model and to use energy projects as a means of combating the social exclusion of marginalised groups, and to contribute to cultural development in regions where the company does business.
