Joanna Lumley backs Caroline Lucas’s campaign

31 May 2009 32 No Comment
One of Britain’s best loved actresses, Joanna Lumley has thrown her support behind the South East’s Green MEP, Caroline Lucas, urging people in the region to vote Green in the Euro Elections on June 4th.

The actress and campaigner paid tribute to her work in Brussels over the past decade:

“Caroline Lucas is a tireless campaigner in the European Parliament, staunchly defending human rights, and strongly promoting greater protection for animals”.

Both women have campaigned for the better treatment of animals and against human rights abuses in Burma and Ms Lumley said the Green Party was the obvious choice for real change:

“I urge you to cast a positive vote for a better future by voting Green in the European Elections.”

Caroline Lucas, who has served as the South East’s Green MEP for a decade and is hoping to be re-elected on June 4th, paid tribute to the actress.

“People recognise Joanna Lumley as someone with great integrity and admire her passion and commitment to the campaigns that she supports. I feel honoured to have her support in my campaign for re-election to the European Parliament.”
