First Minister Tours North Wales Public Services
First Minister Carwyn Jones will be in North Wales today and tomorrow as he continues his tour around Wales to visit frontline public service staff to hear at first hand how those services can be protected and improved.
The First Minister will be joining Police Community Support Officers on the beat in Llandudno and will meet residents and community workers at Caia Park in Wrexham. He will also meet front line workers from community and leisure services in Bangor, and those who work in social services in Denbighshire.
The First Minister said:
“The emerging figures from the UK Government’s Budget and messages about the forthcoming Comprehensive Spending Review are stark and potentially could be devastating in their impact, particularly on the most vulnerable.
“We have to take a radical look at how we work, redesigning the front line services and streamlining corporate functions. We can learn most about what needs to be done from those who provide our services and those who use them. That’s why I am here in North Wales this week to meet staff and users of services. I want to explain our approach and seek their expertise in protecting services and outcomes. I will use the authority I have to ensure that this expertise is translated into action.
“It is important that I hear from people on the front line across all of Wales and from all parts of the public sector. These next two days in North Wales will be very valuable as we plan for what we all recognise will be very challenging times ahead.”
