Deer smashes through pensioner?s window
Jane Eyre, 87, was baking in the kitchen of her home in Lansdown, when the deer smashed through the window.
The startled animal then ran around the house as it looked for a way out leaving Mrs Eyre “astonished”.
Although the deer did suffer some cuts from the broken glass it escaped largely unharmed, but Mrs Eyre?s house was covered in glass and a table was broken.
Mrs Eyre told the Bath Chronicle: “I heard a huge noise as the window broke. I was utterly astonished – I thought I was having a dream, or actually a nightmare, it was thrashing around thinking it could get out.”
“Had I not been in the house, I don?t like to think what would have happened.”
It is not known where the rampaging deer came from as the pensioner lives in a cul-de-sac and her home backs on to a high wall.
But Jo Barr, from the RSPCA, said: “It is not uncommon for us to be called out to incidents involving deer. They are very prone to stress, and tend to panic and get trapped in places where they cannot get out of.”
