On Monday, a Flybe service was made to make an emergency landing at Manchester Airport. The flight was on its way to Bournemouth from Manchester with 40 passengers on board when it had to turn around just after takeoff.

The pilot announced that they were having technical problems and would have to return to the airport. Soon after, however, the pilot made another announcement that the technical issues had gotten worse, and he would have to shut down one of the engines. He was able to safely land the aircraft, where emergency fire crews were waiting.

The passengers were transferred to a Southampton-bound flight and were then taken the rest of the way to Bournemouth by bus. One of the passengers said that the pilot used the PA system twice. Everybody was quiet and scared, he continued, describing that a few girls were really shaken up and upset, even after the plane safely landed. However, he did say that the crew handled the situation well and kept most everyone calm. After seeing the fire engines, all the passengers were relieved, he added.

A spokesperson for Flybe said that the aircraft was made to turn back as a precaution due to a technical issue. The airline’s number one priority is the safety of their crew and passengers, they continued, and the pilot requested a priority landing, where the plane taxied to its stand for the passengers to exit as normal. Flybe apologizes for the delay and any inconvenience caused for the passengers, the spokesperson added.
