Carmax Foundation Awards $10,000 Grant To Stanislaus Partners In Education In Modesto, CA
RICHMOND, Va.-CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX), the nation’s largest retailer of used cars, announced today that The CarMax Foundation has awarded Stanislaus Partners in Education in Modesto, California a $10,000 grant as part of the Foundation’s Regional Giving Program.
Stanislaus Partners in Education (SPIE) received the grant for the Teacher Internship program. This program gives educators of middle and high school students an opportunity to spend 40 hours at businesses and at local industrial sites to learn the skills required to be successful in the various workplaces. The teachers then take these lessons and share them with their students to prepare them for the workforce following high school or college graduation.
“SPIE provides genuine experiences for these teachers. The lessons they learn in the different business environments will be passed on to the students who are the future leaders of our community,” said Denise Hinkson, CarMax location general manager in Modesto and Regional Giving Committee chairperson. “The students will then be well-equipped to choose their dream career and know what they need to accomplish this goal. The CarMax Foundation is proud to be among the supporters of this program.”
The CarMax Foundation’s Regional Giving Program reinforces CarMax’s commitment to funding programs that improve local communities. The Regional Giving Program provides grants to qualifying nonprofit organizations that have programs focused on education and youth leadership. CarMax associates working within each of the regions select the local organizations to recommend for grants.
