Aerotek employees honored in the areas of engineering and science
Six Aerotek contract employees were recognized at the 25th annual Black Engineer of the Year Awards Science Technology Engineering and Math (BEYA STEM) Global Competitiveness Conference, held in Washington, D.C. Aerotek has been a sponsor of the event for the past six years, continuing to increase its involvement each year.
On Thursday, Feb. 17th, Aerotek contractors Haichang Huang and Vrushali Waknis, were recognized at a luncheon for Science Spectrum Trailblazers. This award is given to minority men and women actively creating new paths for others and striving to innovate in science research, technology and development. The following day, four additional Aerotek contract employees were honored at a luncheon for Modern Day Technology Leaders. Trevor Altman, Raymond Andrews, Vijay Gayee and Samuel Lively were recognized as up-and-coming professionals who are shaping the future of engineering, science and technology.
“This is the first year contract employees were presented awards. We are extremely proud to have six of our contract employees recognized for their work and for their contributions to the science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields,” said Shelton Guinn, Director of Strategic Sales. “Aerotek has always strived to be a leader of diversity in the workplace and our partnership with BEYA is an important cornerstone in our commitment to diversity.”
In addition to participating in the awards luncheon, Aerotek also was a speaker at the event. Mark Cooper, Aerotek’s Senior Vice President of National Sales & Operations, presented information on the growth of the engineering sector and key trends in employment and hiring.
Aerotek will continue to play an integral role in the annual BEYA event. Diversity in the workplace has always been an important mission for Aerotek, and the BEYA conference closely aligns with the areas of staffing that Aerotek supports including placing individuals in science, technology and engineering positions.
