main-nakheel-countdown-begins-for-dubai-world-championshipThe 100-day countdown to the Dubai World Championship has begun with 35,000 fans from all parts of the globe already registered for tickets for the grand finale of The Race to Dubai.
Fans from as far a field as Brazil, Barbados, New Zealand and Finland will be at Jumeirah Golf Estates from November 19-22 to witness the thrilling climax to the season-long competition which features 49 golf tournaments in 26 destinations around the world.

Golf legend and designer Greg Norman launched free admission tickets in May during a visit to Dubai to make his finishing touches to the Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, which will be played competitively for the very first time at the Dubai World Championship.

The showpiece course will play host the top 60 qualifiers from The Race to Dubai thus ensuring the greatest player field ever seen in the Middle East and the strongest line-up of a sole-sanctioned European Tour event this season. Among those competing will be current Race leader Paul Casey, Ryder Cup legend Sergio Garcia, three-time Major winner Ernie Els, The Players champion Henrik Stenson, former US Open champion Geoff Ogilvy, Dubai Desert Classic champion Rory McIlroy, and Colombian sensation Camilio Villegas.

Hamza Mustafa, Managing Director Nakheel Leisure, said:

“The worldwide interest in The Race to Dubai and the Dubai World Championship has shown that in challenging times Dubai remains a robust and attractive destination. Part of the strategy behind the tournament was to attract tourists to the region and the number of fans we are expecting from all over the world, not to mention the global television audience of millions, will contribute to tourism in a big way.”

Hospitality packages for the final day of the tournament have now sold out, with tickets for the three remaining days selling fast. In addition, world renowned brand Rolex has recently been unveiled as the first official sponsor, with Polo Ralph Lauren unveiled as the tournament’s official outfitter, and ITP named as the official publisher. Further partnerships will be announced in the coming weeks.

Hamza Mustafa added:

“Rolex and Polo Ralph Lauren view the Dubai World Championship as being in line with their support of other high-profile sporting events such as Wimbledon or The Ryder Cup and we have further partnerships in the pipeline to announce soon.”

“We have also sold out the hospitality offering for the final day of the tournament and tickets for the remaining days are going fast. It just goes to show that whatever the sport fans want to see the best and despite challenging market conditions, an event that has genuine sporting importance, a world-class field, and is hosted in a great destination such as Dubai, will always be successful.”

Fans can register for free tickets at the official website www.dubaiworldchampionship.com. The website also includes details and sales information on the two hospitality packages that are available, both of which include first-class facilities overlooking the 18th green, and one offering the unique experience of being among the first to play the Earth course following the Dubai World Championship.
