main-volunteers-rush-to-dubai-world-championshipGolf fans from around the world have been rushing to be part of the Dubai World Championship, with hundreds of volunteers offering their services for key roles at the highly anticipated climax to The Race to Dubai at Jumeirah Golf Estates.

Since his appointment as Dubai World Championship Chief Marshall in April, Buddy Morin has assembled a small army of 400 volunteers who will be tasked with a range of marshalling roles, including crowd control management and assisting with player movement around the Greg Norman-designed Earth course. Morin has close to four decades of experience across major golf events.

Hamza Mustafa, Managing Director of Nakheel Leisure, said:

“With the inaugural Dubai World Championship just around the corner, preparations are continuing at pace. We are delighted to have assembled such a strong team of committed volunteers and have no doubt that under the guidance of Buddy they will help to deliver a world-class sporting event that Dubai, and the wider Middle East, will be proud of.

“The volunteers are going to be crucial to the overall success of the Dubai World Championship and we are very pleased to have received such a tremendous response to our volunteer programme.”

In addition to the marshalling force, a 130-strong scoring team from Dubai College has also been confirmed. The students have extensive experience in scoring management support after filling similar roles at the Dubai Desert Classic.

Buddy Morin, Dubai World Championship Chief Marshall, said:

“We are delighted with the response to the call for volunteers and it’s great that so many want to be a part of this special event. I’m confident that each and every one of our volunteer team will work to ensure that the event runs smoothly, handling everything from crowd-control to player movement.

“The whole golf world is talking about The Race to Dubai and we are all thrilled that volunteers will be playing such a key role when the world’s best players descend on Jumeirah Golf Estates in November for the Dubai World Championship.”

In the days following the tournament, volunteers will get the chance to follow in the footsteps of the players who have just competed in the Dubai World Championship during a ‘thank you’ golf tournament held on the Earth course.

More than 32,000 have registered for free tickets to the Dubai World Championship which will be staged from 19-22 November. For more information on free tickets and hospitality ticket sales please visit www.dubaiworldchampionship.com
